At the end of December 2025, ArenaPetro, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “ArenaPetro”) successfully conducted well integrity inspection logging on a 20-inch large casing gas storage well in an oilfield in Northeast China, using the WIIS Well Integrity Inspection System centered on the UHI2D90 ultrasonic imaging logging tool. The operation successfully obtained full section logging data of the 20 inch casing, and the interpreted results were recognized by the client, marking an important breakthrough for ArenaPetro in the field of extra large diameter wellbore logging.

As domestic oilfields raise their requirements for injectionproduction capacity, peakshaving response speed and long term operational economy of single gas storage wells, the construction of gas storage wells with 20inch and larger casings is increasing. However, due to their extremely large outer diameter, large casing wells face multiple technical challenges in ultrasonic imaging logging, including difficulty in controlling tool centralization, insufficient ultrasonic transmission energy, and inadequate torque for rotating the large probe base driven by the motor.

To address these difficulties, ArenaPetro carried out adaptive modifications and customized key components for the existing UHI2D90 ultrasonic imaging tool. Following a series of rigorous indoor simulation tests, the logging operation was successfully implemented, yielding complete ultrasonic imaging logging data.

ArenaPetro’s selfdeveloped UHI2 ultrasonic imaging tools are available in mature outerdiameter specifications including 56 mm, 60 mm, 73 mm and 92 mm. They have been applied in gas storage wells across major oilfields for many years, with hundreds of well logging operations completed. The tools are mainly used for casing damage detection and cementing quality evaluation in gas storage wells, and also meet logging requirements such as external casing optical fiber positioning and perforation quality inspection. The successful operation in the 20inch large casing gas storage well verifies the high technical advancement and well condition adaptability of ArenaPetro’s UHI2 ultrasonic imaging tools. Based on years of logging service experience, ArenaPetro now possesses full coverage logging capabilities for small size casings (4.5 inches and below), conventional size casings (4.5 inches to 13.375 inches) and large size casings (20 inches and above). The tools are also applicable to highly deviated wells, horizontal wells, heavy mud wells and other complex well conditions, maximally meeting clients’ logging demands for various casing sizes and well conditions.
