Recently, our company innovatively adopted a high-precision casing-outside optical fiber positioning logging tool matched with a tractor, and successfully completed casing-outside optical fiber positioning logging operations on two key research horizontal wells PY-2132-1 and PY-2132-2 in the Huainan Work Area. This operation marks the first time Sinopec has realized the combined use of tractors and high-precision casing-outside optical fiber logging tools, which earned a written commendation from the National Engineering Research Center for Coal Mining Technology.
Shengli Logging Company and Jianghan Logging Branch jointly set up the research project team of “High-Precision & High-Efficiency Casing-Outside Optical Fiber Positioning and Fiber-Avoiding Perforating Technology”. Employees of both parties elaborately formulated special construction plans, strictly enforced safety control requirements, seamlessly connected all construction procedures, and finished all supporting work ahead of schedule, including instrument calibration, system joint debugging and full equipment maintenance. Core team members traveled across multiple work areas for a total distance of 2,600 kilometers to reach the well site, and immediately launched operation preparation work upon arrival. Their ultra-fast response, efficient execution and pragmatic work style demonstrate outstanding professional competence and solid responsibility.
The two wells constructed this time have a maximum horizontal measured depth of 1,000 meters with complex downhole conditions, setting extremely high standards for the positioning accuracy of casing-outside optical fibers.
During construction, the project team strictly implemented safety management standards, accurately overcame technical bottlenecks of horizontal well operations, and ensured stable and controllable whole-process construction as well as complete and reliable data collection. The equipment safely crawled a cumulative length of 4,000 meters downhole, and the effective surveyed wellbore length exceeded 2,000 meters. The team successfully realized precise detection of downhole optical fiber azimuth, winning high praise from the client.
This construction not only provides data support for fiber-avoiding perforation of surface pre-drainage wells of Huainan Mining Group Coalbed Methane Company, but also delivers practical experience for the popularization and application of horizontal well construction technology of similar types in the future. In its commendation letter, the Research Center commented:
“The optical fiber azimuth measurements completed by your company are clear and precise, the interpretation results are accurate and reliable, and the delivery efficiency is outstanding.
